World’s Largest Human Resources Event Taking Place June 17-20 in Chicago

SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition offers journalists access to story ideas, experts, research and resources

ALEXANDRIA, Va. —Thousands of human resource professionals from across the country and around the world will gather for the 2018 SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition June 17-20 in Chicago. 

It is the premier event to identify trends and gather research, resources and sources on workplace and workforce issues. Among the topics to be discussed: skills- and competency-based hiring, the employment of the formerly incarcerated, performance reviews, workplace culture, paid sick leave, standing desks, remote work, demographics, succession planning, health and wellness, corporate misbehavior and pay equity.

PRESS BRIEFINGS: A press conference featuring important workplace public policy and SHRM certification will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 17. Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, who became president and chief executive officer in December, will hold a press conference at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. A media lunch with SHRM experts, will take place at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

INTERVIEWS WITH EXPERTS: SHRM experts are available for interviews on topics including immigration reform, employee relations, legislation affecting the workplace, sexual harassment, HR policy and paid leave. Various SHRM staff and member experts will be available during a media gathering in the conference press room, which will be kicked off by Taylor.

GLOBAL REACH: More than 1,300 international HR professionals from countries including Korea, Japan and Costa Rica will attend Annual Conference. A global track of concurrent sessions will cover topics ranging from Data Privacy: An International Overview to ‘You're Fired!’ ‘No, I'm Not’: Strange Situations and Stranger Results When Managing a Global Workforce. SHRM, which serves as the secretariat of the World Federation of People Management Associations (WFPMA), is also pleased to announce that the WFPMA World Congress will be held in conjunction with the conference.
