Two Human Resource Standards Taskforces Formed
Groups focus on HR compliance, regulations, employee relations and labor relations
Alexandria, Va. – The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) today announced the formation of two new taskforces that will develop national HR standards for compliance and regulatory and employee and labor relations.
The taskforces will focus on employee relations, labor relations, HR compliance and regulatory issues such as workplace investigations, employee onboarding, employee retention and downsizing methods, and succession planning.
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) designated SHRM as a standards development organization in 2009.The two new SHRM-sponsored standards taskforces join four other domestic standards taskforces that are administered by SHRM.
The SHRM standards initiatives will follow a recognized protocol for broad-based professional and public interest participation, formal balloting, a process for resolution of negative ballots and conflicting viewpoints, an appeals process, and a period for public review and comment before the standards are released for publication in their final form. Each standard will be individually submitted for formal certification by ANSI as an American National Standard. SHRM will serve as the secretariat to both taskforces.
To ensure that membership is diverse, representatives from four interest categories will serve on the taskforces: practitioner representatives (human resources professionals), customers (public and private sector organizations and employees), developers (suppliers and vendors, academics, attorneys, researchers, and consultants) and general interest representatives (all other interested parties). Representatives of each interest group will be qualified by education and professional experience.
Persons who wish to apply for membership on these taskforces or to nominate another to serve on the taskforces should submit an application online no later than January 18.Committee members will be expected to comply with written SHRM consensus standard procedures and with the written SHRM conflict-of-interest and anti-trust compliance policies. For questions about serving on these or any other SHRM-sponsored standards taskforce, please email Amanda Benedict, SHRM’s manager of HR standards, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
