Alexandria, Va. — The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)today launchedthe SHRM®People InSight, an employee job satisfaction and engagement benchmarking survey service that usesSHRM’s comprehensive database of U.S. employee normative data and research technology created by DatStat, Inc.

The benchmarking survey service, which is geared towards small and mid-sized organizations, helps organizations gauge their employees’ satisfaction and engagement and compares the data with industry benchmarks from thousands of employers.

People InSight provides employers with a way to measure their organizations’ employee job satisfaction, engagement, and other human capital metrics against benchmarks from more than 5,000 nationwide employee respondents,” said Mark J. Schmit, Ph.D., SPHR, director of research at SHRM. “The statistical comparisons will help companies make important decisions that impact an organization’s profitability and their most important resource – their people.

People InSight examines more than 30 aspects of job satisfaction and additional items related to employee engagement, including relationships with management, work environments, compensation and benefits, engagement opinions, and conditions for engagement. With this information, organizations will learn about the work environment their employees value and gain an effective employee retention tool.

“SHRM has truly leveraged DatStat’s technology to provide the most comprehensive comparative benchmark report to HR executives,” said David Proestos, COO of DatStat, Inc. “HR executives are now empowered with the tools for targeting areas of performance improvement and optimizing organizational strengths. People InSight provides them with information that demonstrates their knowledge leadership in human capital management.”

SHRM began measuring employee job satisfaction in 2002 with its annual Employee Job Satisfaction Survey Report. The 2011 survey report, which examines overall employee job satisfaction and factors that impact job satisfaction, will be released later this summer.
