ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has announced that Sal Khan, founder of popular online school Khan Academy, will be a keynoter at its
Annual Conference & Exposition, taking place this June 19-22 in Washington, D.C.
The entrepreneur has been recognized as one of
TIME magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World,” profiled by "60 Minutes", and featured on the cover of
Khan Academy is a nonprofit with the mission of providing free, world-class education to “anyone, anywhere.” The school has over 26 million registered students from 190 countries and features over 7,000 video lessons in more than 35 languages. Al Gore was quoted saying, “The Khan Academy has revolutionized our thinking on the potential and promise of unfettered, open-access online education.”
Khan is also author of the well-known book, The One World School House, which explores the impact of the web as a teaching tool.
Khan is the third keynote speaker announced for the annual conference and will speak about innovation. SHRM earlier said that commentators Paul Begala and Tucker Carlson will speak at the conference, which is expected to draw thousands of attendees to the nation’s capital. Begala and Carlson will do a point and counterpoint about the upcoming presidential elections.
