UPTOWN Professional magazine has named Shirley A. Davis, Ph.D., director of diversity and inclusion initiatives at the
Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), to its list of "100 Top Executives in America."
"100 Top Executives in America" list launched in
UPTOWN Professional’s inaugural issue, published in January 2011, and recognizes leaders for innovation, organizational impact and commitment to diversity and inclusion. The magazine, published by
Uptown Media Group, is a quarterly business-community publication, focusing on employees from diverse backgrounds.
“The honorees represent some of the world’s most admired companies and organizations,” said
UPTOWN Professional Publisher Robert Ingram in the publisher’s message of the issue. “It should be noted that a shared trait of our leaders are core values, like authentic leadership, giving back, bringing new blood into the company and helping them advance up the ladder, along with an active and open-style participation in the community.”
In her role at SHRM, Davis leads diversity and inclusion thought leadership and creates diversity strategies for the human resource and business communities. She is a popular speaker and leads SHRM diversity-related programming, including SHRM’s annual
Diversity and Inclusion Conference and Exposition and highly rated diversity courses and corporate training programs.

Davis has more than 15 years of experience in human resources and diversity, including leadership positions at Fortune 500 and 100 companies such as Capital One, Circuit City and Bank of America. She holds a bachelor’s degree in pre-law from
the University of Maryland, a master’s degree in human resource management from Central Michigan University, and a doctorate degree in business and organization management from Capella University.
