SHRM Statement on Labor Secretary Nominee Andrew Puzder

Dec 8, 2016
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) released this statement on the nomination of Andrew Puzder to be the next secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor:

No one knows the impact of Department of Labor initiatives better than HR. As the professionals who work every day to create workplaces with an engaged and productive workforce, HR understands how government policies affect employers and employees alike.

With his business background, Mr. Puzder would bring an understanding of the practical impact of regulation on the workplace to this role.

SHRM — as the primary representative of the HR profession — will continue to offer HR’s important perspective as Mr. Puzder’s nomination moves toward confirmation and the Trump administration takes up workplace issues.

Significant issues are ahead, and SHRM looks forward to contributing to solutions that create and protect an innovative, fair and competitive workplace.
