ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has named Elizabeth Owens Bille general counsel and corporate secretary.
Bille, SHRM-SCP, has served in a legal capacity for SHRM for more than seven years, most recently as vice president and associate general counsel.
A member of
SHRM’s leadership team, she reports to President and CEO Henry G. (Hank) Jackson.
“Elizabeth Bille is an accomplished attorney who has made significant contributions during her tenure at SHRM. We are pleased to announce her promotion,” Jackson said.
Bille began her SHRM career in the government affairs department, working as a lobbyist and leading its state government affairs program. She left that position in 2002 to attend law school at George Mason University, where she graduated first in her class and was executive editor of the
George Mason Law Review.
She practiced employment law with the law firm of Hogan & Hartson LLP (now Hogan Lovells) and then worked for the vice chair of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission before rejoining SHRM.
Her appointment was effective Jan. 1.
