WASHINGTON — The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has released this statement on the
U.S. District Court ruling in
Chamber of Commerce of the United States of America et al v. National Labor Relations Board:
The court ruling upholding the NLRB union election rule is a loss for workers everywhere. Employees need adequate time and information to make an informed decision about whether or not to join a union, and this decision prevents that.
The union election rule is of great concern to the HR profession because an employee should be able to hear from both the union and the employer. SHRM will continue to work with HR professionals on strategies to protect their direct and open communication with employees about the workplace.
