SHRM Wins Three Telly Awards for First Ever National TV Campaign

Alexandria, Va. − The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has won three bronze Telly Awards for its 2008 national cable television commercials airing on CNN, Fox Business News, and Fox News, as well as on their respective Web sites.

SHRM’s full-color, animated television commercial campaign features two 30-second spots themed “Most Important Asset” and “Winds of Change.” Images and messages from the television commercials are also being used in other advertising in the print and online versions of the Harvard Business Review and BusinessWeek.

The ads are part of SHRM’s first ever multi-platform, national campaign designed to raise awareness among business leaders and other groups about HR’s critical role in ensuring every organization’s success.

The Telly Award, founded in 1979, is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest film and video productions, and groundbreaking Web commercials, videos and films. Telly Award winners represent the best work of the world’s most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments.

Judges evaluated 13,500 entries from all 50 states and from countries around the world, marking one of the most competitive competition years in the award’s history. Winners include companies, agencies and organizations of all sizes, from large multinational media companies to small ad agencies and local production houses.

The 29th Annual Telly Awards recognized SHRM in three categories:

  1. Professional Services: Bronze Telly Award – “Most Important Asset” commercial;
  2. Use of Animation: Bronze Telly Award – “Most Important Asset commercial; and
  3. Use of Animation: Bronze Telly Award – “Winds of Change” commercial.

“The television commercials are central to SHRM’s efforts to educate non-HR audiences about the contributions and importance of the HR profession,” said China Gorman, acting President and CEO of SHRM. “This campaign is receiving praise from our members and people outside the human resources community because to raises issues that every organization is dealing with today,” she said.

The commercials underscore the larger theme of “Meeting the Challenges of a Changing World,” and demonstrate how human resource professionals are helping businesses address tough issues in today’s changing workplace. The message is especially timely during challenging economic times, as organizations face issues that include new workforce demographics, rising health care costs, talent management and workforce readiness, sustainability, and finding and retaining top talent.
