SHRM Wins Social Media Leadership Award
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) won a 2012 Social Media Leadership Award in the non-profit category last week at a social media workshop held at the Wharton School.
The awards are organized by Knowledge@Wharton, Social Strategy1, and OfficeArrow with support from by Ernst & Young. SHRM won the award based on a case study of The HIVE, an interactive area staffed with social media experts at SHRM’s Annual Conference and Exposition that helped HR professionals learn about social media. Through its extensive schedule of educational presentations, smart bars and networking lounges, the HIVE is an example of how social media innovation addressed an organizational challenge and helped HR professionals better understand how social media can assist in their productivity.
"We are very honored to win this award,” said Curtis Midkiff, SHRM’s director of social engagement. “Engaging our members via social media is a priority that has been championed by our executive leadership and is a collaborative effort among many departments at SHRM. The HIVE was an example of how this collaboration can result in social media innovation at the enterprise level."
Launched this year, the Social Media Leadership Awards are a global competition that recognizes best practices in social media in 12 categories of organizations. Winners, evaluated by a panel of global business, social media and academic leaders, will be chosen based on innovation and success in the use of social media to solve organizational challenges. Winners will be announced tomorrow.
