SHRM’s Strategy Conference Brings Together Best Minds in HRHR executives and business leaders gather in Palm Springs to share strategies to meet today’s workplace challenges
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 13, 2012 — As business and the workplace continue to change, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is gathering human resource executives and other business leaders for a top-level discussion of how to develop creative and effective business strategies.

THOUGHT LEADERS RETREAT: Leading up to the Strategy Conference, the SHRM Foundation will host its annual Thought Leaders Retreat, an invitation-only event for more than 100 top-level HR executives and CEOs, at the Westin Mission Hills Resort & Spa.
With a theme of “Managing a Global Workforce,” the Thought Leaders Retreat will explore trends affecting work, cultural agility and social media tools in the global marketplace. Chief HR officers from multinational corporations, researchers and thought leaders outside HR will speak, including Rohit Bhargava, senior vice president of global strategy and planning at Ogilvy and author of Likeonomics, on “Why Likeability Is the New Competitive Advantage.”
The retreat will feature a special preview of the video “Hiring Heroes: A Case Study,” which profiles the military veteran-friendly workplace policies of Dollar General Corporation. Created with the support of the SHRM Foundation and the Ohio SHRM State Council, the video will be distributed to SHRM chapters as part of a commitment to military veterans and their families.
