SHRM Foundation Contribution

     

Your gift delivers scholarships to current and future HR leaders, publishes complimentary research-based resources, advances HR research and drives thought leadership. Thank you! 

Three ways to donate to the SHRM Foundation:

  1. Donate ONLINE
    Your online donation is easy, fast, and secure! All online donations for the SHRM Foundation are made through the SHRM Store, so if you are not yet logged in, you will be asked to login to SHRM's website, or create a guest account, before being directed to online donation webpage
  2. Donate via phone
    The SHRM Foundation staff is happy to take your donation via credit card over the phone. Please call Elissa Soares, Foundation administrator, at 703-535-6020.
  3. Donate via mail
    Donations made by check can be mailed along with your completed donation form to our secure lock box at:

Q: Is my donation to the SHRM Foundation tax deductible?
A: Yes, all donations to the SHRM Foundation are tax deductible

Q: How long will it take to process my donation?
A: If you donate via check or credit card mailed to our office, it can take up to two weeks for your donation to be processed.
If you donate online at shrmfoundation.org/donate, your donation is credited automatically and you will receive an receipt emailed to you immediately.

Q: Will I receive a receipt for my donation?
A: Yes

  • If the donation was made online, you will receive an email receipt immediately.
  • If the donation was made via mail or over the phone and your donation was for $25 or more, you will receive an acknowledgement letter from the SHRM Foundation which acts as your receipt.

Q: How can I make sure my donation is properly credited?
A: Donating online allows you to choose your donation's recognition credits for your chapter and/or state council and/or ensure that your gift is made in honor or memory. If you are mailing your donation, please include the donation form so that all information is correctly recieved. If you have additional concerns, please call us at 703-535-6020.

Individual Gift
I am an individual who is a making a donation to the SHRM Foundation. If I am a SHRM chapter/council member, my donation will count towards our Leadership Campaign. All donations made online will receive a receipt via email, and all gifts of more than $25 made by check or over the phone will receive an acknowledgement letter by mail.

State Council or Chapter Gift
I am a representative of a SHRM chapter or state council making a donation from chapter or council funds. This donation will count towards your annual contribution for SHAPE requirements.

Student Chapter Gift
I am a representative of a SHRM student chapter making a donation from chapter funds. If the gift is being made by a student chapter representative using their personal credit card/check, please indicate that this is a student chapter gift when donating online or using the printable donation form if you are mailing your donation(link here). Please include your student chapter number on the form. All donations made online will receive a receipt via email, and all gifts of more than $25 made by check or over the phone will receive an acknowledgement letter by mail.

Corporate Gift
This is a gift made from a corporation to the SHRM Foundation. To ensure that a corporate donation receives the correct recognition, we request that donations be mailed to us via check or made via credit card over the phone at 703-535-6020.

Q: What credit cards do you accept?
A: MasterCard, Visa, American Express

Q: Are there any credit cards you won't accept?
A: At this time, we do not accept Discover cards and we cannot accept debit cards that are not accompanied by a Visa or Mastercard logo on the card.

Q: Can I donate through worksite giving programs?
A: Many giving programs allow you to choose a charity of your choice. The SHRM Foundation is a proud recipient of gifts made through worksite giving. If we can help connect your worksite giving program, please contact us at shrmfoundation@shrm.org or call 703.535.6020.

Q: Do you process matching gifts?
A: Yes! Matching gifts are a great way to double, and sometimes triple, your donation! Contact your company's charity giving program to learn more about the steps needed. The SHRM Foundation is happy to complete all paperwork.

How to submit a Matching Gift contribution:       

  • Contact your company regarding their matching gift program
  • Complete and submit the matching gift paperwork to the SHRM Foundation at 1800 Duke Street, Alexandria, VA 22314
  • The SHRM Foundation will verify your completed form and return it your company

Your company will than issue a matching gift contribution to the SHRM Foundation.       

SHRM FOUNDATION DONOR PRIVACY STATEMENT  

Privacy Policy Effective May 27, 2016   

In this Privacy Statement we set forth the SHRM Foundation’s privacy policy as to data and information collected from donors. In order to accept donor gifts and sponsorships, provide donation acknowledgments and recognition, and/or promote the scholarships, grants, and other opportunities provided by the SHRM Foundation to both students and professionals in the HR field, the SHRM Foundation may ask for a variety of donor information. This may include contact information (such as your name, home and/or work phone number, street address and/or e-mail address, employer name and job title), unique identifiers (usually your SHRM membership number or SHRM Chapter/Council membership number, if one is available, or other log-in credential), financial information (such as your credit card number), or demographic information (for example, your birth year, location, certification designation, etc.).   

This SHRM Foundation Donor Privacy Policy discloses SHRM Foundation's donor privacy practices and contains detailed information about the following:

  • How does SHRM Foundation use the donor information it collects?
  • How can donors modify their personal information or opt out?

SHRM Foundation will update this policy from time to time, so please check back periodically. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable donor information in a manner that is materially different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will endeavor to notify you of such changes (e.g., we will post a revised privacy policy with a new effective date, display the word “updated” next to the privacy policy link on the SHRM Foundation Donor Privacy Policy page, or otherwise), prior to implementing them.   

SHRM Foundation is an organization that is based in the United States. We comply with U.S. laws governing the privacy of personal information, which may not provide the same level of data protection as provided under the laws of other countries.   

  1. What donor information does SHRM Foundation collect?
    To advance the mission of the SHRM Foundation through promotion of the opportunities available and provision of acknowledgments and recognition to donors, SHRM Foundation collects certain personally identifiable information about its donors.

    Personally identifiable information refers to data that tells us specifically who you are (e.g., your name, home and/or work email address, postal address, phone number, and your employer and job title, and if you are making a donation, your credit card or other financial information). You are only required to provide such information if you want to make a donation and take advantage of any acknowledgments and recognition provided to our donors. We may also collect demographic information about you (e.g., birth year, certification designation, etc.).  

  2. How does SHRM Foundation use the information it collects?

    The SHRM Foundation does not sell or share donor information collected online or offline, with the exception that your information is shared with third party vendors that process and acknowledge your donation, with our parent organization, the Society for Human Resources Management (“SHRM”), or as required by law enforcement or judicial authorities. 

    a.) General
    If you make a donation to SHRM Foundation through our website or other means (e.g. third party- hosted applications), you provide personally identifiable information and demographic information to the SHRM Foundation. SHRM Foundation will use this to carry out any transactions necessary to process and acknowledge the donation and will not sell or share this information with third parties unless we have received written permission from the donor to sell or share such information, except as provided below. Donors may at times choose to remain anonymous, and SHRM Foundation respects such wishes. SHRM Foundation may utilize third party vendors for the purposes of collecting donor information (e.g. third party applications). These third parties will only use such information for the purpose of facilitating/completing your donation to the SHRM Foundation, and will be obligated to keep donor information protected and confidential.

    If you donate to SHRM Foundation through our website(s) or through other channels, we use the personally identifiable information and demographic information you provide to process your donation, furnish donor acknowledgments/recognition (e.g. donation receipt through an acknowledgement letter or email, sponsorship certificate, listing on the SHRM Foundation donor webpage, promoting your scholarship in HR Magazine, etc.), send you publications to provide you updates on SHRM Foundation work, to send you information that SHRM Foundation believes is relevant and useful to you, to promote the scholarships, grants, and other opportunities provided by the SHRM Foundation, and share donor lists with SHRM Chapters and SHRM State Councils.

    SHRM Foundation may be required by law enforcement or judicial authorities to provide information on individual users to the appropriate governmental authorities. In matters involving a danger to personal or public safety, SHRM Foundation may voluntarily provide information to appropriate governmental authorities.   

    b.) Sensitive Personal Information 
    SHRM Foundation does not share with third parties, sensitive personal information such as passcodes, social security numbers, or credit card numbers, except as necessary to process donations requested by you and under strict confidentiality and security protections; nor does SHRM Foundation publish such sensitive personal information.   

    c.) SHRM Foundation Affiliates  
    We allow our parent organization, the Society for Human Resource Management (“SHRM”), to use the information which you may provide when making a donation to the same extent as SHRM Foundation may use such information, and fully subject to the same limits as SHRM Foundation is subject to on the use of such information under this Privacy Policy.  

  3. How can you review and modify your personal or demographic information, or opt-out of receiving communications?
    SHRM Foundation provides donors the opportunity to modify or delete their personal or demographic information previously provided by the donor to SHRM Foundation, or to opt-out of receiving communications from SHRM Foundation or its affiliates. If you wish to modify or delete your personal or demographic information, or you no longer wish to receive specific communications, you have the following options:

    a.) Send an e-mail to: SHRMFoundation@shrm.org    

    b.) Send mail to the following postal address: SHRM Foundation, 1800 Duke Street, Alexandria, Virginia, 22314, ATTN: Foundation Administrator.   

    c.) Call: 703-535-6020. Instructions for option out of any SHRM Foundation e-mail newsletter you receive are also included with each e-mail.  

  4. Your California Privacy Rights. For California Residents Only.
    The SHRM Foundation does not sell or share donor information collected online or offline, with the exception that your information is shared with third party vendors that process and acknowledge your donation, with our parent organization, the Society for Human Resources Management (“SHRM”), or as required by law enforcement or judicial authorities.

    As a California resident, you have the right to opt-out of having your personal information licensed to such third parties. We will not share your information after we have received your notification that you are opting out. If you wish to opt-out you have the following options:

  5. What kinds of security procedures are in place to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of your information?
    SHRM Foundation employs security measures equal to or better than those reasonably expected in the industry. For further information regarding the protections afforded, please refer to Section 8 of the SHRM Online Privacy Statement.
