John joined HR Magazine in 2010. Before coming to SHRM, he was an editor at the Thompson Publishing Group, where he wrote and edited articles on pension plans and retirement issues. For several years, he was with CCH in Washington, D.C., where he covered Congress, the Supreme Court and federal agencies, reporting on a broad range of business and workplace issues. Before that, he was the deputy legal editor at The National Law Journal in New York City. He attended the University of Iowa College of Law and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Northwestern College in Iowa.
