Trent Burner - SHRM-SCP

Trent Burner is vice president, global organizational effectiveness at Wal-Mart Stores Inc., one of the world’s largest multinational companies. He is responsible for leading the global organizational design, continuous improvement, job design, change management and reorganization teams.

Prior to his current role, Trent was senior director, job analysis, selection strategy and assessments for Wal-Mart. In this position, he oversaw the job analysis process as well as the assessment and staffing decisions of more than 5.5 million candidates a year in the United States and was responsible for supporting Wal-Mart's talent acquisition requirements in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

Trent has served as assistant director, equal employment opportunity at the University of Akron.

He has also led global HR initiatives in the areas of engagement surveys, performance management, employment practices, selection strategy and assessments, and executive development.

Trent is an adjunct faculty member of Harding University, where he teaches consumer psychology, HR fundamentals and business leadership classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has contributed to the Industrial-Organizational Psychologist, and has been a Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology conference speaker.

Trent holds a bachelor’s of arts in psychology and a master’s of arts in industrial/organizational psychology from the University of Akron.
