Dr. Angela K. Miles, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, ARM, Named SHRM 2015 Advisor of the Year
SHRM is pleased to announce the winner of the 2015 Advisor of the Year -- Dr. Angela K. Miles.
Dr. Miles is an Associate Professor and SHRM student chapter advisor at North Carolina A&T State University (NC A&T SU). Her teaching areas comprise Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior. Chapter accomplishments have included SHRM Outstanding Chapter in 2013 and 2014, 2013 SHRM SE Graduate Case Competition win, and recipient of the SHRM Superior Merit Award for nine consecutive years. In support of SHRM Student Programs, Dr. Miles has served as a student case competition presentation judge, Assurance of Learning item writer and subject matter expert. She is a member of the Human Resource Management Association of Greensboro (HRMAG).
Dr. Miles serves as the program leader for the Human Resource Management concentration in the Masters of Business Administration Program at North Carolina A&T State University. In 2014, she received the UNC Board of Governors Award for Teaching Excellence. This is the highest teaching recognition in the University of North Carolina System. She was also named the 2013-2014 Outstanding Teacher of the Year for the School of Business & Economics at NC A&T SU. She has led student groups on study abroad trips to Brazil, Eastern Europe, Spain and China, while conducting research in these countries, as well as other international venues. Her research is focused on organizational stress, office ergonomics, quality of work life issues, spirituality, cross-cultural management and employment law. Dr. Miles is published in numerous journals and conference proceedings and is the recipient of several conference Best Paper Awards and fellowships. She has presented globally in the management discipline.
Dr. Miles holds a PhD from Florida State University, MBA from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and a BA from the University of Virginia. Professionally, she holds the SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification, the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification, and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation. She was previously employed in the banking, automotive and telecommunications industries.
