The student newsletter, SHRMStudent Focus, is delivered quarterly with your digital edition of HR Magazine. It provides a vehicle for you to publicize your chapter's accomplishments and to share good ideas with other student chapters. You are encouraged to submit articles and pictures to SHRM for publication in SHRMStudent Focus. Your chapter will receive Merit Award points for each article submitted, whether or not it is published. Photographs, either color or black and white, can be sent with your articles. SHRM reserves the right to edit or revise articles for publication as needed.
Following are examples of appropriate articles:
Description of a successful chapter project and how it was organized.Announcement and details of an upcoming student conference.A summary of what was learned from an interesting chapter speaker.A summary, analysis and opinion of a current HR issue.Announcement of awards or recognition received by the chapter or one of its members.
Articles on Merit Award winners or SHRM Foundation Scholarship recipients are not needed since these will already be covered by SHRM.
Articles may be submitted at any time throughout the year by e-mailing email@example.com. For publication in a specific issue, check the student program calendar for article submission deadlines.
