Panel Co-Lead Position Description

The Volunteer Co-lead partners with Panel Staff Lead to plan and carry out the agenda of the Panel.  In addition, the Co-lead must actively participate as a panel member.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

In partnership with Panel Staff Lead:

  • Plan meetings for upcoming year, including topic suggestions, coordination of guest speakers, etc.
  • Participate in training for position
  • Actively participate and lead panel meetings when necessary
  • Leverage social media platform as a form of communication with panel members. Encourage and lead discussions and post relevant information to site.  Assist in management of group as directed by Panel Staff Lead.
  • Act as back-up for Panel Staff Lead when he/she is not available
  • Provides support to Panel
  • Represent SHRM as a spokesperson when appropriate


To perform this volunteer co-lead position successfully, an individual must also be a contributor as a panel member. 

  • Must meet all requirements as noted in Special Expertise Panel Member responsibilities
  • Ability to effectively lead  
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills
