Whether an organization is ready to seize growth opportunities or find ways to do more with less, it will be up to HR executive leaders to design how our workforces look, feel and perform in the coming years.

HR Executives Ready for the Reset

As businesses emerge from the effects of a global pandemic and almost a year of economic uncertainty, we have arrived at a pivotal moment for HR executives. Our workplaces are poised for seismic change as companies reset for the post-COVID-19 future.

Whether an organization is ready to seize growth opportunities or find ways to do more with less, it will be up to HR executive leaders to design how our workforces look, feel and perform in the coming years.

The decisive role of the CHRO was illustrated starkly in new research SHRM conducted with Willis Towers Watson in early 2020, and the findings are even more applicable now. The survey of over 500 business leaders, including CEOs and other C-suite executives, board members and academics, made a strong case for empowering HR leaders to capture growth in the new world of work.

The study findings bring forward five pivot points for the CHRO and other senior executives:
  1. Push boundaries to power organizational agility.
  2. Unleash digitalization.
  3. Embrace perpetual work reinvention.
  4. Rethink culture and leadership.
  5. Elevate HR decision science.

HR executives have a lot on their plate for 2021. Your increasingly critical impact on business performance is one reason SHRM’s Executive Network, HR People + Strategy, transitioned from an affiliate to a fully integrated part of SHRM at the end of 2020.

Under the SHRM brand, HRPS is fully equipped to meet the unique needs and challenges senior HR leaders face in an increasingly complex business landscape, where people and their experience are firmly at the center. This integration also empowers SHRM to deliver greater HR innovation and best practices from the top level of organizations.

HRPS members now enjoy a wider professional network pool; more forward-thinking, customized programming; and SHRM’s globally recognized brand. As together we reset our organizations for the post-pandemic world of work, SHRM will remain laser-focused on delivering an executive-level community that defines the future of HR and the workplace.

I am eager to tackle the opportunities and challenges of the year ahead with our executive members at our side. No matter what industry or company you represent, you represent the best minds in the profession and have valuable experiences and ideas to share.

I look forward to the next exciting chapter of our collective journey to create better workplaces and a better world for all, with your steadfast support along the way.
