This year’s Step Challenge encourages conference attendees to join a team of fellow #SHRM17 attendees and compete for the highest average step total over the three-day challenge (June 18-20), while giving a suggested registration donation to help build inclusive organizations and advance the hiring and retention of military veterans. ​Join TEAM EMPOWER,  a group of individuals who make an annual donation of $30 or more and pledge to help build inclusive organizations. 
By donating and joining Team Empower, you will receive the official Step Challenge water bottle when visiting the SHRM Foundation's booth (#1933) during #SHRM17. 

Funds raised during the SHRM Foundation's All In Step Challenge will benefit the SHRM Foundation and Volunteers of America Great New Orleans, both 501c3 public charities.

​The SHRM Foundation is a values-based charity that champions workforce and workplace transformation to help build inclusive organizations where employees, potential employees and organizations achieve success. We empower HR professionals with scholarships and solutions to make change happen. 

Our current inclusion inititative is to measurably improve the lives of our nation's military veterans by empowering HR professionals with solutions to drive the hiring and retention of veterans.

Volunteers of America helps the most vulnerable and under-served people achieve their full potential. Volunteers of America Greater New Orleans, established in the 1896, supports more than 50,000 local underserved individuals annually and they believe that our nation’s heroes deserve any opportunity to live a dignified life. 
 
A portion of funds raised, up to $5,000, will be used to help all veterans find meaningful employment, help homeless veterans get back to a stable home and help veterans with families avoid becoming homeless. The charity will also receive professional development scholarships to strengthen their veteran-serving volunteers and staff, and to offer continued learning opportunities for local veterans.
