Inclusive organizations, led by empowered HR professionals, are where employees can thrive and organizations achieve success. To advance this work, the SHRM Foundation partners with companies and organizations through sponsorship of our inclusion initiatives and special events.

Inclusion Initaitive: Hiring and Retention of Veterans

The SHRM Foundation is committed to inspiring and empowering HR professionals to build transformational and inclusive organizations where all workers thrive and organizations achieve success.

The SHRM Foundation has identified veterans as a vulnerable but highly valuable part of a diverse and inclusive workforce. With 65 percent of veterans leaving their first non-military job within two years, the SHRM Foundation is concerned that veterans are not being adequately recruited, retained, or integrated into the non-military workforce. 

Over the next three years, the SHRM Foundation will focus its efforts on research, educational programming and tools to develop a pathway for veterans to pursue civilian careers. We will do this by educating HR professionals on how to hire and retain veterans, providing work based learning opportunities to veterans and creating a database to help veterans find fulfilling careers in HR.

Special Events hosted by the SHRM Foundation

In 2018, the SHRM Foundation will host three special events to engage HR professionals during SHRM conferences. 

    1. Third annual Step Challenge at #SHRM18
      The Step Challenge is a three-day activity that invites the 15,000+ attendees at SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition to set physical goals, track their process and celebrate their successes. 

    2. SHRM Foundation Annual Luncheon
      This celebration recognizes the work accomplished, honors top supporters and energizes attendees to support our mission and upcoming work. Luncheon attendees include SHRM and SHRM Foundation board members, top Leadership Circle donors and volunteer leaders from SHRM state councils and chapters. 

    3. Headshot Studio at the SHRM Volunteer Leaders Summit
      Annually, 1,000 SHRM chapter and state council volunteer leaders gather at the SHRM Volunteer Leaders Summit to network, collaborate and attend development sessions to strength their chapters and state councils. During the summit, volunteers are invited to sit for a professional headshot. As a headshot studio sponsor your company will host the lounge and connect with volunteer leaders during this positive, much appreciated experience.
