Chapter Certification Professional Development Grant

The SHRM Foundation selects up to 15 State Councils or Chapters each window for an award to promote SHRM Certification (SHRM-CP and/or SHRM-SCP). Most of the past awardees have used the funds to launch or continue SHRM Certification preparation courses for their members. Other ideas for promoting SHRM Certification may be considered for an award, with the exception of using the funds to create a state or chapter certification professional development grant

Application Open and Deadline Dates:

     Opens January 15; Closes May 1

Results Notification: August 2

Eligibility

  • SHRM Chapter or State Council in good standing
  • Conducting or planning to conduct a SHRM certification preparation program or other effort to promote SHRM certification. (Note: using award funds to directly fund chapter or state certification professional development grants is prohibited.)
  • Person completing application must be a SHRM member

Complete online application including:

  • Contact information
  • Description of actual or planned certification program
  • Description of actual or planned results
  • Program budget and funding
  • List of chapter/state awards or honors received

Selection Criteria

  • 50% proposed program reach and impact
  • 30% depth and description of proposed program
  • 20% matching funds available
Applications are reviewed and scored by SHRM Foundation staff and may be reviewed by SHRM staff and volunteers from the SHRM membership. Volunteer reviewers will be from a region outside of the applicant's region. All decisions are final. Each award is a one-time award, however previous applicants and past recipients are eligible to re-apply. Previous award is no guarantee of a future award.

By accepting an award, you are consenting to allow the SHRM Foundation (and the award's sponsor, if any) to use without limitation, and in any media, your name, city, state, photos and captions (if uploaded), and verbiage for marketing and promotional purposes.
