Leveraging AI for Skills Extraction & Research (LAiSER) – George Washington University

In 2023, the George Washington University’s Program on Skills, Credentials & Workforce Policy launched a project to develop an AI-powered skills translation tool that bridges diverse skill taxonomies used by educators, employers, and policymakers. The tool uses machine learning to create a flexible, evolving “taxonomy of taxonomies,” enabling clearer communication and alignment across sectors. By dynamically linking and updating skill definitions, the project aims to address inefficiencies in skill recognition and workforce alignment. In 2024, testing began with various institutional partners, and the project is actively seeking additional collaborators.
