Mallory Norton, 29, began working as a technical recruiter at Global Partner Solutions LLC, a rapidly growing 130-employee aerospace resource company based in Wichita, Kan., in 2014. Promoted to HR manager in 2016, she revised the company's employee handbook, rewrote compliance and safety policies, streamlined performance review forms, and began an upgrade to an electronic onboarding system and benefits portal.
“There’s always a project going on here,” says Norton, who left the company for another position in December 2016.
Her ability to overcome obstacles inspires friends and colleagues. She has been described as “wise beyond her years.”
As a child, she had little parental support or guidance. Fortunately, she had several mentors who encouraged her to pursue her education. While in college, she had a son, now 8, who was born with cerebral palsy.
“I’ve tried to encourage others that it’s not necessarily what you start out with but what you make of yourself,” she says.
“I’m a go-getter. I like to get things done and take on new challenges. I think that’s contributed to my success,” says Norton, who has been elected to serve as vice president of communications on the SHRM Wichita chapter’s board in 2017.
