Audio: Matt Charney on the one skill that every HR professional needs to remain competitive in today's HR environment.

With a unique background that includes HR, blogging and social media, Matt Charney is a key influencer in recruiting and a self-described “kick-butt marketing and communications professional.” He serves as executive editor for Recruiting Daily, whose flagship property, RecruitingBlogs, is the world’s largest social network and content-sharing platform for recruiting professionals.

In 2013, his blog was named one of the top 15 business blogs officially recommended by WordPress, the only HR-related blog with that distinction. “That means that the stuff I write actually resonates outside of the industry,” Charney says. He also serves on the boards of several HR tech companies, including Rolepoint, Take the Interview, RecruitiFi and eiTalent. “Pretty cool for a 30-year-old punk,” he says. Indeed. —Christina Folz
