The National Academy of Human Resources (NAHR) is now accepting submissions for the 2013 Ram Charan HR essay contest. All undergraduate or graduate-level college students around the globe studying HR management, industrial/labor relations or other related fields are eligible to enter.
The topic for the 2013 contest is, How are electronic technology and social media affecting the employment relationship (from hiring to engagement to retention) and the roles, responsibilities and contributions of HR organizations?
Essays should be from five to 20 pages, double-spaced, in a 12-point font. Entries must be submitted by e-mail in a .pdf file to: email@example.com. The deadline is Aug. 1, 2013.
Students do not need faculty sponsors to enter. If contestants have faculty sponsors, then sponsors must provide brief statements of 100 or fewer words describing how they are serving in this capacity and attest that they had no role in writing the essay and will not share in any financial awards.
Cash prizes of $20,000, $10,000 and $5,000 will be awarded for the three best essays.
Winners will be announced at the NAHR annual installation of new fellows, on Nov. 7, 2013, in New York City. The academy will pay travel expenses for contest winners to attend the ceremony.
A panel of HR professionals, made up of fellows of the NAHR, will evaluate the entries. The academy is an honorific organization for individuals and institutions of distinction in the HR field. The NAHR recognizes exceptional professional achievement by nominating outstanding HR professionals and electing them to be fellows.
Ram Charan, for whom the award is named, is a well-known author, speaker and business advisor. For more than 35 years, Charan has consulted with some of the world’s most successful leaders and companies and is an NAHR Distinguished Fellow.
