SHRM is closely watching the Department of Labor and awaiting the announcement of the final rule making changes to Part 541 rules governing overtime exemptions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). We are expecting the rule to be released soon, perhaps as early as the week of May 16.
Once the rule is announced, SHRM will review and alert members to the rule’s major changes to the salary threshold, the potential inclusion of automatic annual increases to the salary threshold, any changes to the duties test and the rule’s effective date.
SHRM has taken a leading role in educating the administration and Congress on the rule’s impact on the workplace.
