With the warm weather and the kids out of school, the summer months are peak vacation and activity times for most U.S. workers. Many employees are looking to ramp-up their workplace flexibility during the summer, and organizations are responding to employees' needs by implementing summertime flextime policies to improve employee satisfaction and engagement.
SHRM and the Families and Work Institute's When Work Works initiative recently announced the winners of the When Work Works Awards, which honor organizations that are creating effective workplaces and using flexibility as a strategy to make work "work" better for businesses and employees. For several winners, offering summer hours has been tremendously successful, with employers reporting increased employee happiness and retention. Here's a brief overview on what some winners are doing for summertime flextime:
