Resources for State Legislative Directors


Resources are available to SHRM state legislative directors to assist you with performing your duties. They include:

  • Issuing advocacy alerts and posting letters on state-specific matters through SHRM's A-Team alert system
  • Developing sample testimony to be presented on behalf of the state council before state legislative committees
  • Development of advocacy strategies to assist state councils in organizing grassroots efforts to support/oppose legislative or regulatory actions in their state

To Request the Assistance of SHRM National in a state advocacy effort, please complete the attached document.

The SHRM Speakers Bureau provides state councils and chapters with the opportunity to request a speaker from SHRM's Government Affairs Department to provide a federal, state, or member advocacy update at a local event for SHRM members. To request a member of the SHRM Government Affairs team to come and address your state council or chapter, please complete the SHRM Speakers Bureau's Speaker Request Form
