SHRM has collaborated with Globoforce® on a series of annual surveys about engaging employees through employee recognition and other workplace efforts. Our goal is to determine trends among HR leaders and practitioners about the challenges they face and the strategies that help them conquer those challenges.

Key findings include:
46% of organizations cite employee retention/turnover as the top workforce management challenge in 2016, an increase from 25% in 2012.
81% of organizations have an employee recognition program, and 60% tie their program to organizational core values.
HR professionals in organizations where an employee recognition program is tied to organizational values perceive that the program delivers a stronger return on investment and has a greater impact on instilling and reinforcing corporate values, maintaining a strong employer brand, and meeting learning and development goals.
