SHRM’s 2014 Workplace Flexibility Survey collected comprehensive information on flexible work arrangements (FWAs). The results are presented in a two-part series; the second part provides information on the strategic use of FWAs, including metrics/analytics on FWAs, success factors, the impact of these programs on employees and employers, and challenges associated with FWAs. This research found that among the responding organizations that reported offering FWAs the majority had not established any methods to measure the impact of FWAs on turnover, hiring costs, employee attitudes, and employee health and wellness, among others. However, the majority of these organizations indicated FWAs had a positive impact on several organizational outcomes, such as retaining employees, attracting employees, employee morale/job satisfaction/engagement and the overall company culture.
