This is the fourth year that SHRM has conducted a survey examining the state of jobs and skills in the current economic environment. The study looks specifically at topics such as recruiting and skill gaps, organizational financial health and hiring, and global competition and hiring strategies. In addition to providing overall results for U.S. organizations, industry-level results are included for each of the nine sectors included in the sample. There are separate California-level reports, in which results are compared with the U.S. overall. The most recent survey was conducted December 16, 2013 - January 16, 2014, and the sample included 3,335 HR professionals from nine different industries in SHRM’s membership.
