As health care coverage in the U.S. evolves, a growing number of employers are offering their workers access to high deductible health plans. However, employers' implementation of these plans are often met with resistance: Employees perceive their health care coverage is less valuable, and many are even scaling back their use of medical benefits for fear of incurring extra costs. Through communication and education, employees can understand how such plans can actually lower their costs and offer greater control of their health care planning.
In this webcast, Larry Boress, president and CEO of the Midwest Business Group on Health, discusses strategies for communicating the benefits of HDHPs and health savings accounts, and encourage employees to be wise consumers of their health care. In addition, Joanne Abate, AVP of Global Health and Insurance Programs at UNUM, will discuss the communication techniques Unum adopted to engage employees to take action during an active enrollment where HDHP was offered for the first time.
