The goal of a goal is accountability. Managers set goals in many ways. Some are short-term. Some are long-term. Some relate to a specific assignment. Some support strategic initiatives while others encourage employee development.

Goals may seem simple and easy. Unfortunately, what seems simple and easy at the beginning often becomes vague and confusing at the end. When it comes time to evaluate the success of the effort, managers and employees too often disagree on the what of the goal.

In this webcast, author and consultant Mike Deblieux, SHRM-SCP, will provide practical tips and a template to guide goal setting. He will use his extensive experience training managers in groups and individually to provide insights and techniques to keep goals and performance on track. The webcast will help you:

  • Set clear end-result expectations to define what needs to be done.
  • Collaborate to determine how it will be done.
  • Define resources to support the effort.
  • Establish measurements to define success.
  • Align goals and day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Confirm the agreed-upon process to provide clarity at evaluation time.
