Building an Intelligence Culture

Presenters: Liz Wiseman and Shawn Vanderhoven, The Wiseman Group; and Ryan Sanders, BambooHR

Original program date: June 2017 (program no longer available)

Program length: 60 minutes

How do you build an agile workforce that identifies and fully utilizes everyone's native genius to achieve breakthrough results? No leader, even with mad skills and killer awareness, can transform a company single-handedly. It is a function of a collective ecosystem where leadership consistently taps every ounce of talent in the house.

In this program, best-selling author Liz Wiseman, leadership expert Shawn Vanderhoven and BambooHR chief operating officer Ryan Sanders will look at new research published that reveals how the best companies are building an "intelligence culture," which allows companies to double the intelligence and capability of their workforce.

The program will offer practical insights into how your leadership team can capture the latent talent within your company by:

  • Moving beyond surface-level cultural elements—like language and shared behaviors—to affect the deeper cultural elements—such as rituals and norms.
  • Buidling new norms that can be integrated into the daily rhythm of the organization.
  • Sustaining momentum and avoiding the “failure to launch” that is so often experienced during transformation initiatives.
About the Presenters: Liz Wiseman is president of The Wiseman Group, a leadership research and development firm headquartered in Silicon Valley. She is also the author of three best-selling books: Rookie Smarts: Why Learning Beats Knowing in the New Game of Work; Multipliers: How the Best Leaders Make Everyone Smarter; and The Multiplier Effect: Tapping the Genius Inside Our Schools. She also writes for Harvard Business Review and Fortune, and her insights have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, Entrepreneur, Inc. and Time magazines. She is a frequent guest lecturer at BYU and Stanford University.

Shawn Vanderhoven is a partner at The WIseman Group. In that role, he leads the development practice for senior executives and emerging leaders. Vanderhoven has worked with executives from Adobe, Capital One, Cisco, Deloitte, Intel, Oracle, Siemens, LinkedIn, Wells Fargo and Yahoo.
