About the Presenters:
Jeff Nowak is a shareholder for Littler Mendelson, P.C., the world’s largest employment practice representing employers. He is a recognized leader on FMLA and ADA issues, helping employers develop comprehensive strategies to achieve compliance with employee leave and accommodation issues. He is also the author of the highly regarded FMLA Insights blog, which has earned him entry into the ABA Journal’s Blogger Hall of Fame. Nowak is a highly sought-after speaker on FMLA/ADA issues, most notably serving on the faculty of the National Employment Law Institute (NELI) and being a frequent speaker for the Disability Management Employer Coalition (DMEC).
Angela Ripper is assistant vice president and special counsel at Unum. She speaks nationally on FMLA and ADA issues, including an annual presentation with the Department of Labor at the DMEC. In 2000, she helped to build Unum’s Absence Management Center, which now administers FMLA and state leave laws for employers and covers close to 3 million working Americans. She is a certified trainer for SHRM and CE credit and has been with Unum Group for 25 years.
Michelle Davidson is assistant vice president in Unum’s Absence Management Center, specifically focusing on large employers with 10,000 employees and above. She provides strong leadership to managers and their teams, with a focus on servicing the disability, leave management, ADA and paid family leave program needs of employers from varying industries, such as health care, manufacturing and retail.
