Resources to Help Create Racial Equity in the Workplace

Employers and HR professionals who want to make sure their workplaces are fair and equitable for all workers can use the resources below to guide their efforts. Click through to see what equity and inclusion look like in action, find out how to talk to employees about race, and make sure your hiring practices are free from bias.

SHRM's Together Forward @Work initiative tackles these issues in depth, with original research about equity and inclusion in the workplace and help for employers to start tough conversations on these topics with employees. As part of the initiative, a Blue Ribbon Commission on Racial Equity, comprising business leaders and academics, has been tasked with assessing the current state of diversity, equity and inclusion in U.S. employers and drawing up a long-range plan for creating open and fair workplaces.

During the Sept. 8 episode of "Tune in Tuesdays," SHRM President and CEO Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, will talk about these issues with commission members Trisha Zulic, SHRM-SCP, director of HR, business operations and strategy at WSA Distributing, Inc. in San Diego, and Jason Lawson, vice president of HR at Installed Building Products in Columbus, Ohio.
