Three Advantages of Strategic Employee Surveys


A strategic employee survey is an indispensable tool for an organization’s talent optimization efforts. Strategic surveys focus on the people issues that have the greatest impact on business performance and that provide a road map for priority setting and action planning on crucial aspects of talent management.

A strategic survey has several advantages over more traditional employee surveys:

  • Strategic surveys capture the attention of senior management. Their direct linkage to business strategy and business results generates both substantial executive interest in the results and a strong commitment to action on the part of the leadership team.
  • Because strategic surveys are directly linked to business results, the survey findings tell management where to invest to add value. Rather than leading to scattered investments in a wide array of tactical programs, these surveys help guide management to the most pressing people issues.
  • The results provide early warning signals of impending problems, as strategic people issues are often leading indicators of business performance.
