How to Earn Recertification Credits

You may already be engaging in activities that qualify

​You worked hard to earn your SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification, so be sure to recertify so you can maintain it! Many activities that align to the SHRM Body of Competency and Knowledge™ qualify for professional development credits (PDCs)—don't let them go to waste. Here is a brief reminder of the opportunities available to earn PDCs by advancing your education, your organization or your profession.

  • Take a course:
    • Continuing education.
    • Degree program.
    • Seminar or workshop.
    • E-learning—instructor-led or self-paced.
  • Attend a conference.
  • Watch a videoconference or webcast.
  • Read a book or an e-book approved for credit and take the quiz.
  • Do a work project.
  • Conduct and publish research.
  • Author a book, article, white paper or blog.
  • Volunteer your HR services to a nonprofit organization.
  • Present a conference session.
  • Teach a course.
  • Lead a workshop.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert.
  • Join a professional membership organization.
