In December, we asked you to share the changes and challenges you're making or facing in 2018 as current or aspiring SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP credential-holders. Here's what you told us:
My new year's resolution is to take the SHRM-CP test by the end of the year. That gives me almost a full year to get going on it. I need it so I can better my career path. I have been in HR for 23 years and I love it. I feel it is finally time to get moving [toward] my certification.
Tiffani Messenger, Corvallis, Ore.
My new year's resolution is to read 40 books during 2018.
Carla Bange, SHRM-SCP, San Diego
To recertify my SHRM-SCP on my birthday in June before going to #SHRM18.
Paula H. Harvey, SHRM-SCP, Hockley, Texas
The challenge not only for 2018, but overall, is being recognized as knowledgeable and dedicated to my craft. For 2018, I plan on taking the exam for my SHRM-SCP credential.
Adanna John, SHRM-CP, Stony Brook, N.Y.
2018 is off to a great start as I've just received my SHRM-CP credential! I'm very excited to share my knowledge with my organization on how to better our HR practices and procedures with this certification.
Working in a federal agency, a lot of HR issues can be difficult to tackle. I am hoping that with the new year, I can bring some new ideas to the table on how we can expand our business and change our culture to be more inclusive and open-minded to new techniques and practices.... I hope that 2018 will allow our organization to grow and continue to [demonstrate] business excellence within the government.
Myranda Whitesides, SHRM-CP, Denver
I want to sit for the SHRM certification exam and get the full benefit of [the SHRM] organization. I have a full-time job and I am trying to figure out how to manage the two.
