Wayne Cascio, Ph.D., SHRM-SCP, and Hank Jackson
The World Federation of People Management Associations (WFPMA) has given its biennial George Petitpas Lifetime Achievement Award to Wayne Cascio, Ph.D., SHRM-SCP. The award recognizes his "outstanding contribution to the profession and practice of human resource management [HRM] and development at an international level" over a four-decade career. Cascio is chair of the SHRM Certification Commission, distinguished university professor and Robert H. Reynolds Chair in Global Leadership at the University of Colorado Denver.
SHRM President and CEO Henry G. "Hank" Jackson nominated Cascio for the award, which honors those whose contributions are "readily recognized by HR professionals all over the world for … intrinsic excellence," impact on employers, advancement of knowledge and understanding, and influence on HR. The WFPMA Board of Directors' support was unanimous.
In presenting Cascio with the honor in London on Oct. 18, 2016, the WFPMA Board said he "contributed to what is known about a number of important areas within HRM, including HR metrics, restructuring, performance management, global HR, talent management, evidence-based management and so much more." It cited Cascio's work as a teacher, speaker, researcher, consultant to public- and private-sector organizations, author of 28 books, expert witness in employment discrimination cases, and "dedicated volunteer" in service to HR.
"More significant is that his work has been useful to the profession," the WFPMA Board continued. "His material was groundbreaking and has been a valuable resource to both students and practitioners."
