By Roy Maurer Sep 14, 2016

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) will hold a one-day event in Las Vegas designed for recruitment and talent management professionals and presented in partnership with the Nevada State SHRM Council and the Southern Nevada SHRM chapter.

The SHRM Talent Symposium will take place at the Bellagio Las Vegas on Oct. 21. The program features six informative sessions, along with breakfast and lunch.

Sessions include presentations from:

  • Ben Casnocha, former chief of staff at LinkedIn, explaining how to recruit and retain the entrepreneurial employees your business needs to succeed.
  • Arte Nathan, former CHRO for Wynn Resorts, relating his experiences successfully recruiting and hiring from the largely untapped labor pool of applicants with criminal backgrounds.
  • Donna Morris, SHRM-SCP, executive vice president of customer and employee experience at Adobe, discussing the company's reinvention of performance management.
  • Tony Lee, SHRM's vice president of editorial, leading a panel of talent leaders discussing trends in recruitment and talent acquisition.

"The goal of the panel is to talk about which talent acquisition strategies are faring best as candidate shortages emerge and what recruiters should be doing moving forward to make sure they have access to the talent they need for their companies to stay competitive," Lee said. Panelists include Thomas Darrow, SHRM-SCP, chair of the SHRM Foundation and founder and principal of Talent Connections and Career Spa, and Danielle Monaghan, director of talent acquisition at Amazon.

Other sessions will examine social recruiting strategies and what it takes to build and sustain a successful company culture. Registration is now open.
