Credit Management Trainee




Job Summary:

The Credit Management Trainee learns the companys credit management function by working on financial and credit management projects in a supervised capacity prior to assignment as a credit manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Completes training and development program to gain an understanding of credit management processes and procedures.
  • Learns procedures for tracking accounts that have been deemed delinquent and for contacting clients to negotiate payments.
  • Researches and verifies backgrounds and credit history of individuals and companies.
  • With guidance and supervision, contacts and discusses payments directly with clients.
  • Learns process for referring accounts to outside collection agency for further collection efforts.
  • Issues invoices and tracks payments.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of state and federal laws pertaining to collection activities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to keep information confidential.
  • Ability to exercise integrity and discretion.
  • Ability to remain professional in confrontational situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software program.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Management preferred.
  • At least two years of prior collections experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
