ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Today, SHRMLabs, a SHRM subsidiary, opened  the application process for its annual WorkplaceTech Accelerator program. The accelerator program, begun in 2022, assists in the scaling and growth of startup companies focused on the workplace and the future of work technologies. A workplace technology thought leader, SHRMLabs created the WorkplaceTech Accelerator to resolve critical workplace challenges facing companies today through collaboration between tech startups and companies' leadership and HR. The application window is open until November 10, 2023, before the selected cohort convenes on March 26, 2024.

The WorkplaceTech Accelerator is a 12-week program that immerses participants in the needs of workers and the workplace, using SHRM's vast network resources. The program provides in-person and virtual events where participants gain business development exposure and learn how to perfect their products to meet the world of work. Upon graduation, participants will become SHRMLabs program alumni, which comes with the ability to access SHRM and SHRMLabs' network and gives them greater visibility among the HR community.

"The WorkplaceTech Accelerator (WTA) continues the SHRMLabs mission of workplace innovation and adoption," said Guillermo Corea, managing director of SHRMLabs. "Initiatives of WTA alums Sparrow, Movo, and MLH are examples of how our programs are helping to ease challenges in the world of work today."

WorkplaceTech Accelerator cohort members will have access to several benefits upon admittance. Top leaders and executives in the field lead the program. Each startup will have a curated advisory council based on its needs, and connection to potential user testing and feedback. Each startup will also receive a $200,000 equity investment from SHRM, with potential additional investments dependent on milestones. And finally, two individuals from each startup will have their travel expenses paid to attend SHRM's Talent Conference & Expo 2024 and the SHRM Annual Conference & Expo 2024. At both conferences, their startups will each be given a sponsored booth in the Expo Hall.

"We're excited to open the WorkplaceTech Accelerator application for 2024's cohort," said Alex Alonso, chief knowledge advisor, SHRM. "Each year, we get to see startup companies use the latest technological advancements to create progress in the workplace. I'm excited to see what inventions are proposed by this year's applicants."

The WorkplaceTech Accelerator is a developmental program unlike any other. SHRM's role as the voice of all things work, workers and the workplace, combined with its SHRM member network, competitively positions these startup participants to serve their customers in unique ways.
