SHRM Statement on Trump Administration’s H-1B Lottery Proposed Rule
SHRM Chief of Staff and Head of Government Affairs, issued the following statement in response to the Trump Administration’s H-1B lottery proposed rule.
ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Emily M. Dickens, SHRM Chief of Staff and Head of Government Affairs, issued the following statement in response to the Trump Administration’s H-1B lottery proposed rule.
“SHRM represents employers of all sizes and industries, many of them small and mid-sized businesses that depend on access to skilled talent. We support DHS’s efforts to help optimize the H-1B program. We note, however, that a wage-weighted lottery may create challenges for sectors where salary is not the best measure of skill or value. Employers across the economy face talent shortages and streamlined access to skilled workers is critical to business growth and U.S. competitiveness. As DHS finalizes the rule, SHRM stands ready to work with the Department to ensure policies that give employers the talent they need to drive innovation and strengthen the American economy.”
