E2 (Education-to-Employment) Initiative Launched at SHRM25
During the opening general session of SHRM25, SHRM Chief of Staff and Head of Government Affairs Emily M. Dickens, J.D., announced a new strategic initiative called E2 (meaning Education-to-Employment and pronounced “E-Squared”) to align education and employment.
This initiative was born out of congressional testimony earlier this year by SHRM President and Chief Executive Officer Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, in which he summarized the nation’s current predicament by declaring that America’s talent pipelines are “leaky, busted, and broken.” Taylor’s testimony highlighted the critical gaps between education systems, employer needs, and workforce readiness — and the urgent need for action.
At its core, E2 is grounded in one powerful truth: No single sector can solve this alone. Government, business, and education each have a role to play but only together will we succeed. People don’t live, learn, or work in silos — and neither should we.
SHRM looks forward to engaging each of you to further advance E2 in your workplace and your communities to ensure its success in preparing workers to succeed in their profession.
