SHRM Education Program Policies

By registering to attend a SHRM Education Program, you acknowledge and agree to the following policies. These policies are strictly enforced and apply to all without exception.

Code of Conduct

At all SHRM (or "our") Education Programs, our goal is to provide a safe and positive experience, and SHRM expects all participants to follow this Code of Conduct. Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated at any time and may result in immediate removal from the program.

Virtual Attendance Access

Each registration is for a single user only. You are not allowed to share your email ID or give your account access to anyone else. SHRM does not allow multiple users on the same email ID. SHRM may immediately cancel or suspend your access to the program if you share your email ID or give your account access to anyone else.

Consent for SHRM Photographers

By attending the program, you acknowledge that your image may be captured on video or in photos taken on behalf of SHRM. You further provide SHRM the right to use candid group photos or videos without securing additional permission, provided those images are not accompanied by further personally identifying information. Please note:

  • Photos and recordings cannot be copied, altered, sold, exhibited, or further distributed without SHRM's prior written consent.

  • Photos and recordings are the exclusive property of SHRM.

  • SHRM may post photos and recordings on SHRM's official social media pages during and after the program. 

In addition, no disruptions due to photography or recording will be allowed, and violators may lose attendance privileges. This includes drones and personal professional photography equipment.

You may be asked to participate in interviews such as testimonial videos, in which case, you will be asked to fill out an additional consent form.

Accessibility and Accommodations

SHRM believes in providing equal opportunity for everyone. SHRM provides standard organization wide accessibility accommodations and will review ad hoc requests for additional accommodations on a case-by-case basis. Our goal is to work with you to find the right solutions for you to have access. View SHRM's Accessibility Policy.

If you have any accessibility accommodation requests, please complete the Reasonable Accommodation Request form in advance for us to have the appropriate lead time. Although we strive to provide as much space and accommodations as possible, there is a limited amount of space available and it is allocated on a first come, first served basis. 

If you have questions pertaining to accommodations related to the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP tests, please refer to the SHRM Certification Handbook for additional information. When you register for live events or certain online events, you will also be prompted to specify additional accommodation needs. Please be as specific as possible.

Certificate of Attendance

A digital certificate of completion will be provided via email after your last session for all instructor-led seminars or on the SHRM online learning platform for all SHRM Specialty Credentials. Please reach out to the SHRM Customer Experience team if you do not receive or cannot locate your certificate.

AI Note Taker Use Policy

SHRM prohibits participants’ use of artificial intelligence notetakers during our in-person and live online Education Programs. This includes applications that transcribe audio, generate summaries, or create automated notes. The use of AI note takers can compromise the confidentiality of the information shared during our programs. It is essential to protect the intellectual property and sensitive information discussed during these sessions.

We encourage all participants to engage actively in the sessions. Taking your own notes helps reinforce learning and ensures that you are fully present and engaged in the educational experience. SHRM instructor-led Education Programs held on Zoom may be recorded so that an auto-generated audio transcript can later be made available for download as a separate VTT file at the cloud recording link. SHRM may itself use AI tools to generate a transcript or summarized content where deemed appropriate. 

Participants found to be using AI notetakers will be subject to disciplinary action, which may include removal from the program, forfeiture of fees paid, and a ban from future SHRM events. Compliance with this policy will be monitored by SHRM virtual support moderators and instructors.

License Agreement for SHRM Education Program Materials

By opening and using SHRM Education Program participant materials (“Materials”), the user (“User”) hereby agrees as follows: 

(i) That SHRM is the exclusive copyright owner of the Materials. 

(ii) Provided that the required fee for use of the Materials by the User has been paid to SHRM or its agent, the User has the right, by this License, to use the Materials solely for their own educational use. 

(iii) User has no right to print or make any copies, in any media, of the Materials or to sell, sublicense, loan, or otherwise convey or distribute these Materials or any copies thereof in any media.  

(iv) These Materials are for educational use only and are not intended to provide legal or other professional advice. These Materials should not be the sole resource used by the User for the application of the law to a specific situation or problem. The User should consult an attorney or other appropriate expert regarding the application of the law to a specific situation or problem.

Expected Behavior
  • Be considerate of those with whom you may interact.

  • Be collaborative with others. 

  • Be respectful of others' viewpoints that may differ from your own.

  • Be mindful of your words and actions. 

  • Abide by SHRM’s Code of Ethics and Terms of Use.

Unacceptable Behavior
  • Offensive or unwanted behavior or language, including discriminatory behavior or language based on race, religion, color, national origin, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, political affiliation, or any other similar categories.

  • Intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning speech or actions. 

  • Visual harassment, such as displaying sexual or offensive images or inappropriate language at the session, meeting, or event, including in presentations, in slide decks, as backgrounds, or on clothing visible to attendees.

  • Intimidation or bullying, either online or in -person. 

  • Possession of a weapon or something that could be construed as a weapon during the program or on video.

  • Photographing, video-recording, or audio-recording slides or oral presentations, as well as posting presentations without the permission of the presenter or author. 

  • Possession of illegal substances during the event.

  • Sharing your event registration information with another person. 

  • Inappropriate disruption of sessions, discussions, or other events.

  • Real or implied threat of physical, professional, or financial damage or harm. 

  • Any other illegal activity not already covered above.
