Job Summary:
The Carpenters Helper will assist carpenters and perform basic physical labor tasks on construction sites.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assists carpenters by holding and securing lumber used in build process; ensures lumber is level or plumb during installation.
- Assists with building forms for pouring concrete.
- Prepares work area by transporting needed tools and equipment from storage facility.
- Loads and unloads building materials to be used on construction projects.
- Builds and disassembles scaffolding, bracing, and other temporary structures used on construction sites.
- Removes debris and possible hazards to keep construction sites clean and safe.
- Digs trenches and holes needed in construction projects.
- Keep machines serviced.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors, foremen, and carpenters.
- Knowledge of carpentry and construction techniques and procedures.
- Ability to perform basic math.
Education and Experience:
- No previous experience necessary.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- On-the-job training offered.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing and working outside.
- Physically able to perform assigned tasks.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds at a time.
