Job Summary:
The Financial Applications Programmer/Analyst will design, develop, maintain, and enhance computerized financial and financial-related systems, performing analytical and programming functions for complex financial applications.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees the schedule and work quality of programmers.
- Assists programmers with resolving difficult programming procedures.
- Conducts or assists with performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with other departments to assess current service levels and understand requested program improvements and enhancements.
- Recommends systems and programs that will reduce the complexity and cost of applications, while increasing efficiency.
- Collaborates with programmers and analysts concerning procedures, capabilities, limitations, and problems related to hardware and software used in related applications.
- Defines logic and codes detailed programs, subprograms, and routines to be used in a variety of financial applications.
- Drafts technical documentation for new and modified systems for users, production control staff, and programming and analysis staff.
- Handles inquiries from users of financial applications systems.
- Develops and maintains records necessary for auditing purposes; provides copies of all requested files, documentation, and reports to state and internal auditors as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to create complex code.
- Thorough understanding of and experience with programming.
- Thorough understanding of computer programming languages.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Organized, with attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to predict potential user and software issues.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field required.
- At least three years of experience in business or educational programming required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
