SHRM Engages with Illinois, Minnesota, and Federal Lawmakers on Issues Critical to the Workplace
The Illinois and Minnesota SHRM State Councils hosted an Advocacy Day on March 11 and 12, bringing together HR professionals to engage with policymakers on key workforce issues. Participants met with legislators to discuss priorities such as talent development, artificial intelligence and caregiving, and their impact on the workplace. In addition, Emily M. Dickens, SHRM’s Chief Administrative Officer, testified before the Minnesota House Workforce, Labor, and Economic Development Committee on the Education to Employment (E2) Initiative. The Advocacy Day strengthened relationships between SHRM members and elected officials while reinforcing the importance of informed, proactive engagement in shaping policies that affect workplaces across both states.
In addition, SHRM members from Georgia, Maryland and Pennsylvania will be coming to Washington, D.C. to meet with their members of Congress to discuss critical workforce issues. If you would like to be more involved with SHRM advocacy work, please contact us at governmentaffairs@shrm.org.
