Radiology Chief Technologist




Job Summary:

The Radiology Chief Technologist will maintain and coordinate all aspects of the department computer system, in-service education, staff orientation and training, and equipment maintenance.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and controls the operation of the department computer system and ensures that policies and procedures are reviewed annually.
  • Develops training and orientation for the department's technical staff and coordinates the implementation of same with the assistant manager.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the departments inventory, procurement and purchasing of supplies, equipment, and parts.
  • Reviews and updates technical procedures.
  • Assists in the quality assurance program.
  • Performs the duties of the quality assurance supervisor in his or her absence.
  • Coordinates and schedules the department's monthly meetings and in-service education.
  • Oversees the maintenance and cleanliness of radiology equipment and film processors.
  • Coordinates the silver recovery analysis process.
  • Maintains policies and procedures for radiation safety and infection control.
  • Assists in monitoring good customer/patient relations.
  • Assists in scheduling inpatients and outpatients.
  • Performs the duties of a radiologic technologist.
  • Assists in developing new technique charts.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent technical radiology skills and equipment knowledge.

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited program in radiologic technology required.
  • Current registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required.
  • Three years of experience as a diagnostic radiologic technologist required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • May require prolonged periods of standing, reaching and bending to move patients and heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
